Interview:

What is your current position?
My current position is Local Enrollment Specialist. I assist clinical research sites in recruiting patients for their clinical research trials.

How did TBG Trains contribute to your current success?
TBG Trains played a significant role in my current success. I found TBG Trains while I was unemployed and did not know what I wanted to do next. It had been years since I’d interviewed for jobs or even updated my resume. When a friend told me about TBG Trains, I immediately jumped at the opportunity. It was one of the best experiences in my life. The training I received prepared me for interviews, instructed me on how to write a stand-out resume, and most importantly it helped me face one of my biggest fears, public speaking.

How did TBG Trains prepare you for the workforce?
I gained valuable experience in customer service at TBG Trains. Although I’d already had a sense of how to deal with the public, the training solidified that knowledge that “the customer is always right”. It is not always easy to deal with people from all walks of life, different races, and different nationalities, but customer service is universal and TBG Trains taught me that.

Why did you decide to enroll?

I decided to enroll because I was jobless at the time the opportunity was presented, and I say it as a possible transition into a new career path. The training facility was also only 1 block from my home, which was the best!

What was the best part about being a student with TBG Trains?
The best part about being a student with TBG Trains is the long lasting positive relationship that I have gained with Ms. Vivica Brooks, who was my awesome trainer. She is an amazing person and trainer. I would not have had the courage to pursue my career path, if I had not met and trained with my amazing trainer. Ms. Brooks is very knowledgeable, and genuinely cares that her trainees are well prepared for the workforce, in any career they wish to pursue.

What was the hardest part about your journey to success?
The hardest part about the journey for me was simply applying for jobs. It is often the most tedious process, because you literally have to write your resume to fit each position you apply for.

What is one thing you wish you had during your training or now to help you achieve or retain your success?
I wish I could actually have the training in the field that I am most interested in pursuing. I took the Hospitality training course which was great, but I ultimately wanted to transition into a social work career path. If training like that was available, I would have chosen it over Hospitality. I think offering training in different career fields would be beneficial.

What are your plans for the future?
I am currently still working towards my goals. I would like to work in my community in Ward 8, Washington, DC, providing needed services to our underprivileged population. I just recently applied to graduate school for my Master’s Degree in Social Work.

What advice do you have for future students?
My advice for future students is to know that you have chosen the right place for training. I would encourage them to be open-minded and dedicated to the training program, because it will truly benefit them in the future.

Is there anything else we should know?
I think virtual training would be extremely beneficial. TBG Trains is the Best!
